Shizuo Kurahashi was born in 1948 in Niigata, Japan. He began his career as an editor at the Nikkatsu filming studio before moving on to work in sound at Toyo Onkyo. In 1988, Kurahashi established his own company, SOUND BOX. With the rise of the popular Dolby stereo system in Japan in 1983, Kurahashi began creating film sounds. He has edited and arranged sounds for over 1000 works throughout his career.
