Shuuichi Shigeno is a highly-regarded Japanese manga author who gained international acclaim for the creation of Initial D, a popular anime and manga series. However, prior to Initial D, Shigeno authored Bari Bari Densetsu, Dopkan, and Tunnel Nuketara Sky Blue. In 1985, he was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for shounen for his work on Bari Bari Densetsu. It is noteworthy that Shigeno owns a Toyota Sprinter Trueno from the 1980s, which bears the same panda white color scheme used in his manga's main character, Takumi.
