Makoto Yukimura is a male manga artist from Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. He began his career as an assistant to Shin Morimura before debuting in 2000 with his own manga series, Planetes. The series was later adapted into a 26-episode anime. Yukimura is currently working on Vinland Saga, which started serialization in Weekly Shounen Magazine before moving to Afternoon. He won the 2009 Japan Media Arts Festival Grand Prize for his work on Vinland Saga.
