Yasutaka Tsutsui, a renowned science fiction writer from Osaka, Japan, has made a name for himself in the world of anime as well. Alongside Shinichi Hoshi and Sakyo Komatsu, he is considered one of the most famous science fiction writers in Japan. In 1987, Tsutsui's 'Yumenokizaka bunkiten' was awarded the prestigious Tanizaki Prize. His accolades don't stop there; he also won the Izumi Kyoka award in 1981, the Kawabata Yasunari award in 1989, and the Japan SF award in 1992.
